Essex Toastmasters Sweeps Area Competition!

Jon Godin and Dr. Tyran Mincey, two of our most skilled speakers, took first place in the Tall Tales and Table Topics speech contests, respectively, at the Area 53 and 54 competition at Roseland Library - making it a clean-sweep for Essex Toastmasters!

Jon's speech was highly creative, imagining Toastmasters founder Ralph Smedley as the leader of a group of superheroes whose superpowers were related to skills we need to master to be effective public speakers. Jon's presentation was animated and dramatic and had the audience captivated from start to finish.

Dr. Mincey's table topics speech had the audience amazed at how quickly and how smoothly he responded to the question, with no advance preparation or awareness of what the question would be. He related the question to his family life and quickly had the audience laughing with recognition and nodding in agreement.

It was an exciting evening that definitely made an impression on the attendees of how talented Jon and Dr. Mincey are and that Essex Toastmasters is a force to be reckoned with.

We look forward to seeing them both compete at the District level on Oct. 21st at Clark Library in Clark, NJ starting at 9:50 AM.
